Wilfred is a special soul who needs someone willing to take things at his pace.
At just one year old, this handsome lurcher has already found himself in our care as a stray, so sadly, we don’t know anything about his past. What we do know is that Wilfred can be a timid boy when meeting new people and experiencing new situations. But give him time and patience and you’ll soon discover the wonderful character hiding underneath that initial shyness.
Once Wilfred trusts you, his personality really begins to shine. His confidence grows, his cheeky side comes out and he transforms into a playful, animated boy who absolutely loves bounding around and having fun. Those little bursts of character and charm are incredibly rewarding to see — and we think his future family will quickly fall in love with them.
Wilfred can be a little worried about touch at times, so he is looking for an adult-only home, or a home with older teenagers, where everyone understands the importance of being gentle, patient and respectful of his boundaries. Experience with nervous or anxious dogs would be a real bonus but not essential.

Wilfred has a lovely playful nature and enjoys interacting with his canine companions. He can be a little shy when meeting them initially, but after a brief time he really benefits from their presence. We think having another dog, or dogs, in his new home could be hugely beneficial for him. A confident canine companion could help guide Wilfred when he’s feeling unsure, give him reassurance and, of course, provide the perfect playmate for those all-important daily zoomies!
Wilfred is looking for someone who will see beyond the nervous first impression and give him the time he needs to blossom. In return, they’ll get to watch a lovely young dog discover his confidence, show off his playful side and become the happy, characterful boy we know he can be.
